Plague Doctor Dress Set

The Plague Doctor Dress Set transforms medieval plague doctor iconography into an elegant layered ensemble that feels equally at home wandering renaissance fairs, gothic events, conventions, or everyday alternative fashion. Consisting of three coordinated pieces-- the underdress, detachable capelet, and overskirt, it uses dramatic silhouettes to create a look that's both theatrical and comfortable.

The base of the set is a flowing knee-length underdress inspired by classic historical silhouettes. The high stand collar creates a refined neckline, while five decorative buttons trail down the center of the chest for a timeless finish. Long, billowy sleeves gather into softly ruffled cuffs, adding volume without sacrificing comfort. 

Layered over the dress is the detachable capelet, inspired by medieval shoulder mantles. Four hidden snaps on the underside attach securely to matching snaps at the shoulders of the dress, keeping the capelet perfectly positioned throughout the day without shifting or sliding. Along the hem, cathedral-inspired embroidery rises upward in elegant gothic arches, while each of the four lapel corners is finished with contrasting embroidered details that subtly frame the neckline.

The front of the capelet closes with a hidden snap near the hem and is finished with two removable faux leather straps that fasten securely to the lapels, creating the appearance of historical leather harnessing while remaining easy to remove.

One shoulder features a removable faux leather plague doctor mask that attaches with buckled snap straps, becoming a dramatic focal point of the design. Balancing the silhouette, the opposite shoulder is adorned with a faux leather pauldron, giving the ensemble an asymmetrical, armor-inspired look.

Completing the set is the coordinating overskirt, which fastens down the center front with four snaps. The overskirt is split along both side seams, allowing the flowing underdress to peek through beneath while adding movement and layered dimension. Two removable faux leather straps span each side opening, continuing the collection's signature historical hardware details.

The overskirt features embroidered plague doctor emblems positioned midway down each side, while cathedral-inspired embroidery rises from the hem in matching gothic arches. Contrasting embroidery decorates each front corner, matching the embroidered details found on the capelet lapels for a cohesive finish throughout the ensemble.

To complete the look, the set includes a pair of matching faux leather wrist guards that fasten securely with snaps, adding the perfect finishing touch to the plague doctor aesthetic.

Underdress (100% Polyester)

Capelet & Overskirt (100% Twill Polyester)

The detachable capelet and overskirt are made from durable polyester twill. The structured weave allows the architectural embroidery, layered construction, and faux leather details to maintain their shape while adding substance and durability to the overall ensemble.
