A Big Update to Our Interest Check System 

One of the things that makes our brand special is that our community helps decide what gets made. Our interest check system has always been our way of listening closely to you and including you in our process. A big part of our ethos is to only make what people want to wear!

Over time, though, we’ve realized our current system can feel a little unclear. Some designs sit for a long time, it’s hard to tell what’s moving forward, and customers have told us they want more transparency about what happens next.

So we’re making some important changes.

How the Interest Check System Is Changing

1. Interest check items will now have a 6-month window

From now on, every design in our interest check system will stay up for 6 months to collect votes.

At the end of that 6-month period, one of two things will happen:

• If the item has enough support, we’ll move forward with sample production
• If it doesn’t have enough support, it will be removed from the interest check system

This helps keep the system fresh, organized, and focused on the designs that our community is most excited about.

2. A minimum vote threshold to begin production

To make sure we’re prioritizing the designs people want most, we will begin working on items that reach 2,500 votes within their 6-month window. This number is subject to change depending on our growth as a company.

This gives every design a clear and fair benchmark. If a piece reaches that milestone, you can feel confident it’s on the path to becoming real.

Please note that multiple votes from the same IP address will not be counted.

3. A new interactive leaderboard (coming soon!)

We’re currently implementing a custom-built ranking leaderboard that will allow customers to see how interest check items compare and track their progress more easily. This will also allow you to see the current vote number on each product listing.

This system is designed to make everything more transparent and interactive. You’ll be able to quickly see what’s rising and what is close to the threshold.

We’re really excited to share this feature with you soon. Please bear with us as custom assets like this take quite a bit of time.

A One-Time Purge to Start Fresh

To begin this new system cleanly, we will be doing a large purge of existing interest check items.

Some older designs have been sitting in the system far longer than our new timeline allows. Clearing them out helps us reset expectations and create a space where every item has a clear timeframe and status.

This doesn’t mean we’ve stopped loving those designs. Some of the to-be-purged designs are my personal favorites. However, to keep our systems running smoothly, it's time to say goodbye. This simply means we’re committing to a more structured and transparent process going forward, and not that these designs are "bad".

Why We’re Making These Changes

At Mochipan, feedback is very important to us. Unlike other brands, customers have a ton of leverage and say in what get's made here. We want this interaction between customer and brand to be as smooth and fun as possible. Here's what we aim to achieve: clarity, fairness, and transparency.

We want you to know what stage each design is in, how long it has to gain support, what happens after voting, and which items are most likely to be produced in a much more straightforward way.

The February 9th, 2026 Purge:

These are the following designs that will no longer be considered for production:

Pineapple Robe

For those of you who have been with Mochipan for a while, you'll know why this kills me. The Pineapple Robe was supposed to be a part of a fruit-robe series. To explain the whole story would be too much, so I'll just say this: due to my health, the original pre-order failed as I was unable to properly market these robes. Ever since then, it has been sitting in interest check in the hopes that we could revisit it some day. The Pineapple Robe, however, is incredibly unpopular. Despite being one of the oldest items in the system, it has so few votes. In general, pineapple themed items seem to not do so well. It is a shame, but we must move forward!

Vintage Leaf Swimsuits

I really love this concept, but I think the execution is just not there. In the future I may consider redesigning these completely to have a new vintage-inspired leaf-themed swimwear line, but for now we must say goodbye.

Coquette Dream Dress

There is a sample somewhere in my room of this dress, but it was not worth showing you guys. It did not come out very good. I think this dress has so much potential, and could some day be transformed into an addition to our "Goddess" line, but as it is now it will be removed from the Interest Check system.

Betta Babe Series

Removing these swimsuits pains me greatly. These designs are so cute. I love the theme so much. They will be sorely missed.

Dragonfly Bikini

I love the green, but the wing bow (I learned via the Bee Swimsuit) is almost impossible to make in an illustration-accurate way. While I think this is super cute, I am honestly also a little relieved it was not popular.

Alt Cardigans

I am really sad about these. Frankly, if there is an open slot for a sample with our knitwear factory, I may try to sneak this one in again, just out of my own personal selfishness. While some designs look better as illustrations, I think this might be one of the designs that works better as a real product.

Mythical Disguise Series (All Colorways)

A sample of this was also made, long, long ago... And, it didn't come out very good.
